Pumpkin carving made easy
Make your very own spooky pumpkin decoration
Carefully carved and decorated with funny faces – here’s how to make your own Halloween decorations.
Do you love autumn as much as we do here at Böglerhof, your hotel near Alpbach ski resort? Here with us in Alpbachtal, you can experience all the wonders of autumn before the ski season begins. Let us show you how to bring some seasonal Halloween vibes into your home with a pumpkin lantern, also known as a jack-o’-lantern.
Start by cutting off the top of the pumpkin – make sure you cut on a slight angle so that the lid doesn’t fall in later. The opening should be big enough for you to easily reach inside. Use a spoon to remove the seeds, stringy pulp, and flesh from inside the pumpkin. Once you’ve scooped everything out, the wall of the pumpkin should still be two to three centimetres thick. Tip: Test how much light passes through the pumpkin with a torch first. To make sure that your pumpkin lantern isn’t too dark, some light should be visible through the walls. Before you start carving, it’s best to draw on your pattern with a pencil first. You can really unleash your creativity! Then, use a knife to cut out the pattern, following the pencil lines, pop a candle or torch inside, and your pumpkin lantern is ready!
